Objectives: To evaluate the performance of municipal Health Surveillance with the implementation of the Health Surveillance Actions Qualification Program (PQA-VS), in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Norte. Method: Retrospective descriptive study, ecological time series from 2018 to 2022, carried out in the 167 municipalities of Rio Grande do Norte, from July to September 2023, based on secondary data, available in annual reports and ordinances from the Ministry of Health. The data were analyzed using the Statistic Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Results and Discussion: The Health Regions that performed well in terms of percentage (90% to 100%) of achieving goals were the 4th, 3rd and 1st Regions and those that most failed to receive financial resources due to non-achievement of goals they were 7th, 2nd, and 3rd. Among the indicators most achieved in the municipalities analyzed, indicators 3 (proportion of vaccination rooms with monthly supply of administered vaccine doses, 12 (number of HIV tests carried out) and 13 (proportion of completion of the “occupation” field) stand out. in notifications of work-related illnesses). Final considerations: We can see that the PQA-VS helps with the issue of financial incentives, but municipalities still need to strengthen their actions, implementing strategies to achieve the goals, including raising awareness among professionals about the need to strengthen its surveillance actions.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Vigilância em saúde.
