Method: Eight children aged 6 to 10 years, undergoing treatment for various health conditions, participated in the study. They were evaluated using the Oral Narrative History Assessment Protocol (ProNOH) to examine macrostructural aspects such as setting, theme, plot, challenges, and resolution, as well as microstructural aspects like productivity and linguistic complexity. Results: Most children presented difficulties in identifying narrative elements, low lexical diversity, and limited use of conjunctions, with greater deficits among those subjected to prolonged and occasional hospitalizations. Children who attended school before hospitalization showed better narrative performance. Conclusion: The study concluded that hospitalizations can hinder narrative discourse and highlights the importance of integrated collaboration between speech-language pathologists and pedagogical teams in hospital classrooms to reduce these deficits and promote linguistic development.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Discurso NarrativoLinguagemHospitalização InfantilFonoaudiologiaDesenvolvimento InfantilAnálise do discurso narrativo oral de crianças hospitalizadasOral narrative discourse analysis of hospitalized childrenbachelorThesis
