Many social, political, economic, environmental and cultural resources are processed in it occurrence. In this context appears a need for tourism planning. Thus, it is clear the importance to directly involve in this process the government, enterprises and civil society organizations to this end, the existence of specific policies in tourism sector to become essential its development. Within this context, the Ministry of Tourism has adopted a management model focused on the dissemination of tourism in other cities and regions of Brazil and, tourism in Rio Grande do Norte is one of the most promising integrated as part of their public policies, Macroprogram of Regionalization of Tourism in order to internalize this activity. On this basis, the current study proposed to assess whether MacroPRT is an important policy of development for the state. Its approach to the dialectic method, a method of procedure and working with critical bias. To this end, was used a methodology of descriptive and exploratory qualitative as well as structured interviews with managers of the state, regions and local tourism. Was used an index that aims to identify the implementation of the regionalization of tourism in the state, built since the operational modules of this policy. Among the possible conclusions in this study, it is noteworthy that significant progress as the creation of the 05 tourist regions and their forum of Tourism provide an environment that shows articulation, but has not been touched and / or mobilized a number of municipalities that are inserted these regions. In general, we cannot say that the implementation of regionalization occurs in a full state, it is far from happening. The formulation of the policy is good, but the inefficiency in the management of several factors affect its implementation.
