The Psychiatric Reform, initiated in 1989 and consolidated by Law No. 10.216/2001, promoted deinstitutionalization and the creation of Psychosocial Care Centers (CAPS), followed by the establishment of Therapeutic Residences as key components of a new model of mental health care. These services aim to provide humane treatment and social reintegration for people with mental disorders. The research, based on a systematic literature review, identifies strategies and challenges faced by Therapeutic Residences in promoting inclusion, social reintegration, and deinstitutionalization. The results highlight that, despite progress, obstacles persist, such as insufficient resources, lack of public policies, and social resistance. Therapeutic Residences emerge as essential spaces for rehabilitation, offering dignified housing and emotional support.
