Recursos internos como mediadores da relação entre corporate social performance e corporate financial performance: aplicação ao segmento de farmácia magistral. 2020. 96f. Tese (Doutorado em Administração) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2020.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/30989The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the mediating effect of internal resources on the relationship between corporate social performance (CSP) and corporate financial performance (CFP). A methodology to comprehend the perceptions of managers of small and mediumsized companies (SMEs) about CSP, CFP and internal resources was proposed and empirically tested. When applied in compounding pharmacies, it contributed to reduce the gaps related to the CSP and CFP relationship in SMEs. A total of 89 valid questionnaires comprehended the perceptions of managers and supported the analysis of structural equations using partial least squares. In the relationship between CSP and CFP, internal resources exercised a partial mediating effect, which approached total mediation. Only the financial resources were not qualified as mediators; the ones left - physical, human and organizational - were assessed as partial mediators. The double mediation presented as logic a process of tangibilization, the CSP affecting categories of intangible resources; these affecting the categories of tangible resources, which in turn affect the CFP. When comparing the mediation power of intangibles and tangibles, the former were superior. In addition to intangible resources, tangible ones are also relevant in mediating the CSP-CFP relationship, especially physical resources. Although the application was in SMEs, the findings were consistent with previous studies on the CSP-CFP relations carried out in large companies in different countries. Considering that compounding pharmacies do not develop new raw materials, their differentiation can occur through increments in the CSP, which will positively affect the CFP, and this relation is mediated by internal resources.
