Imaginário, memória e mito: análise fílmica de Asas do Desejo (1987) e Undine (2020). Orientador: Dra. Josimey Costa da Silva. 2023. 110f. Dissertação (Mestrado em Estudos da Mídia) - Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/55648The aim of this research is to analyze symbolic representations in the films Wings of Desire (Der Himmel über Berlin) by Wim Wenders (1987) and Undine (Undine) by Christian Petzold (2020), using expressions of the imaginary, memory and myth as parameters. These concepts are intertwined through a common basis, which is the image. Human beings construct mental representations of the world based on their previous and current imaginary experiences, which generates information in their mental universe about themselves and the environment in which they are inserted, including the social, cultural and historical. In order to deal with this intertwining, the notions of representation and the symbolic are also used, which make it possible to give an expression and a comprehensive meaning to imagetic, imaginary, mnesic or mythical manifestations. Such manifestations allow for possible reading keys and reflections on social relations, phenomena and spaces in film narratives, including historical and contemporary situations in German society. In order to understand this, theoreticalmethodological procedures are adopted, such as the qualitative approach (Minayo, 2009; Chizzotti, 2005), through film analysis (Penafria, 2009; Vanoye, Goliot-Lété, 2012), of the elements of expression, their symbolism and contexts. In order to understand this, theoreticalmethodological procedures are adopted, such as the qualitative approach (Minayo, 2009; Chizzotti, 2005), through film analysis (Penafria, 2009; Vanoye, Goliot-Lété, 2012), of the elements of expression, their symbolism and the socio-historical contexts surrounding the two film productions. Based on the descriptive analysis of the film images, it can be concluded that the symbolic representations of angel, nymph and city manifest themselves suggestively in the films in such a way as to weave senses, meanings, re-significations and affections that go beyond the literal sense of film grammar. The angels, protagonists of the film Wings of Desire (1987) and the nymph, protagonist of the film Undine (2020) are anthropomorphized and mythical beings that are part of the imaginary of German culture, composing expressions and narratives in various languages. Rilke's Elegies are the inspiration for composing the angels, who are transcendental in a way that transcends time and space. Wings, birds and statues represent and symbolize the angels, just as the camera's aerial shots of the city of Berlin and the angles (plongée and contra-plongée) express the notion of their flight. These elements show the elevation, the divine breath on humanity, the division between heaven and earth (Girard, 1997; Chevalier, Gheerbrant, 2003), the redemption after the disaster. The nymph is a being that expresses itself using water (Girard, 1997; Chevalier, Gheerbrant, 2003; Agamben, 2012), in an update of Fouqué and Bachmann's nymph. The element of water symbolizes life and death, condemnation and forgiveness. In both films, the representation of the city of Berlin evokes historical and socio-cultural facts, which permeate the different cultural contexts of the two films, evocative of the Second World War and the post-war period with the reconstruction and re-signification of the city's urban spaces. It is considered that the concepts of imagery, memory and myth expressed in the images allowed for a deeper and broader understanding of the symbolic elements that appear in these films, serving as reading keys and making it possible to interpret some aspects of social relations and urban phenomena and spaces represented in the film narratives, as well as establishing the connections described between historical and contemporary situations in German society.Acesso AbertoCinemaImagemImaginárioMemóriaMitoImaginário, memória e mito: análise fílmica de Asas do Desejo (1987) e Undine (2020)masterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::COMUNICACAO
