Efeito agudo do exercício físico na cognição de policiais militares. 2019. 44f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Educação Física) - Departamento de Educação Física, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/47996Introduction: Acute physical exercise exerts significant influence on cognitive variables linked to muscle actions that develop structuring movements of various social activities. The cognitive effects observed after acute physical exercise sessions show decreased central nervous system activation when related to increased exercise intensity. The work activity developed by the military police of BPCHOQUE has a specialized character determined by the confrontation of occurrences of high degree of complexity and that require a higher level of physical aptitude, influencing the decision making process during law enforcement. Objective: To verify the effect of acute physical exercise on military police cognition and the correlation between heart rate, physical fitness level and cognitive performance of military police officers through the Stroop test, pre and post incremental physical exercise. Methods: experimental crossover study using Stroop Test and incremental physical exercises with the Léger Test. The sample consisted of 34 male military police officers (40.2 ± 4.4 years; 84.6 ± 11.0 kg; 173.3 ± 6.0 cm; 28.0 ± 2.8 kg / m2). The evaluations were performed in two sessions with a minimum interval of 24 hours. Initially, the information related to the study was clarified for the volunteers by signing the Informed Consent Form (ICF). In the second session, anthropometric measurements were collected, as well as data obtained from the Physical Activity Readiness (PAR-Q) and Physical Activity Level (IPA-Q) questionnaires. The test of familiarization of the Stroop Test from the TESTINPACS® Software was applied and then the Léger test (running back and forth) to analyze the physiological and cognitive variables in the pre and post exercise conditions. Results: The "t" test of one sample showed that the variables related to the response time in the Stroop test linked to the study conditions showed a significant difference. Pearson's test was applied to verify the correlation between heart rate and Stroop Test response times in pre- and post-exercise conditions, demonstrating that there was no correlation between HR and cognitive outcomes. Nevertheless, the Spearman test was applied to verify the correlation between the level of physical fitness and the response times in the Stroop Test in the pre and post exercise conditions, demonstrating that there was no correlation between the level of physical fitness and cognitive assessments. Conclusion: It was observed that the acute physical exercise exerts a positive influence on cognitive variables of military police regarding the response time of the Stroop Test. On the other hand, the level of physical fitness and heart rate observed in the present study did not present correlation results that significantly influenced cognitive variables.
