Low back pain is among the major problems in the world population and in sport; even so, the literature is uncommon on this topic about jiu-jitsu. Objectives: to verify the prevalence and analyze the factors associated with low back pain in recreational Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners. Methods: This is an observational, cross-sectional, analytical study, where an online questionnaire developed for the research was applied, containing information related to jiu-jitsu practice and injury history. An analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software, version 20.0 for Windows, with descriptive data and measures of association between some variables of the model. The Qui-Quadrado test was used for bivariate analysis and the prevalence ratio for variables with more than two categories, considering significant values of p < 0.05. Results: The sample consisted of 103 participants, 75 men and 28 women, mean age was 29 years, body weight ranged from 50kg to 135kg and the prevalence of low back pain reported concomitantly with the practice was 29%. There was an association with variables such as male gender, higher body height and preference for the passer position. In addition, most participants considered this sport practice as a protective factor for low back pain. Conclusion: it can be observed from this study that there seem to be some factors associated with the occurrence of low back pain in jiu-jitsu practitioners, but follow-up studies are needed to confirm this hypothesis found in this study.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Dor lombarJiu-jitsu brasileiroLesões no esporteAnálise dos fatores associados à dor lombar em praticantes recreacionais de jiu-jitsu brasileiro: Um estudo transversalAnalysis of factors associated with low back pain in recreational Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners: A cross-sectional studybachelorThesis
