Running along by environmental, social, economic, public health and education, the sustainable management of solid waste not only promotes the adoption of the urban space management practices, as well, is expressed in the care of without compromising the present needs of the possibilities for future generations to meet their wishes. In this sense, this research sought to analyze how the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) were integrated into municipal solid waste policies in João Pessoa/PB and Natal/RN, regarding the implementation of household collection and selective collection. In methodological terms, established by the quantitative method, the route consisted of a documentary survey and guided from a theoretical basis on sustainable development and the principles of the 2030 Agenda. In its qualitative foundation, comparative studies were carried out between the adopted solid waste policies by the capitals, using as a tool the indexes and parameters provided by the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM), considering SDG 11 and 12, its targets and indicators related to the solid waste policy. The results and discussions of this research focus on three axes: 1. Understanding the path from Sustainable Development to the formulation of Agenda 2030, with emphasis on the National Solid Waste Policy; 2. Analysis of the solid waste policy adopted in the capitals of João Pessoa and Natal; 3.
