In paving, their use has been used since the 1970s to restore stretches of asphalt pavements and has been growing in recent years due to the savings that these materials add into the different construction stages of paving. The durability of geosynthetics can be defined as the ability of materials to maintain certain properties throughout their service life. The geosynthetics used in road works, are commonly impregnated with asphalt, subjected to high temperatures, may undergo changes in their polymeric structure, compromising their usage behavior. This article is a review of cases of thermal degradation of geosynthetics in paving, in order to provide a collection of support for future scientific researches, reporting tests and performance of these materials applied at high temperatures. Data collection was done at the portal CAPES/MEC of the Brazilian government until the period 2020 and the results show that geocomposite is the most commonly used geosynthetic for damage assessment, as it is the most used material in reinforcements and solution for the reflection of cracks in the pavement. In addition, information was also obtained about the geosynthetics used in paving works.
