Potencial bioestimulante de extrato de Gracilaria birdiae na determinação da qualidade fisiológica de sementes de gergelim. 2019. 44 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Engenharia Agronômica) – Unidade Acadêmica Especializada em Ciências Agrárias, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Macaíba, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/40303Bioactive compounds from the sea have drawn attention to new studies on their action as biostimulants in plants. In agriculture, the use of such compounds can promote the hormonal balance of plants, favoring the expression of their genetic potential and stimulating the development of the root system. Seaweed extracts can contain macro and micronutrients, amino acids, hormones and growth regulators, among other organic compounds, being classified as natural stimulants. The present study investigated, as a hypothesis, the potential for alternative use of the aqueous extract of red algae Gracilaria birdiae in the treatment and subsequent evaluation of the physiological quality of sesame seeds. The experiment was conducted at the Seed Analysis and Research Laboratory of the Specialized Academic Unit in Agrarian Sciences / Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (EAJ-UFRN), using five lots of sesame seeds submitted to treatment with increasing concentrations of the extract aqueous algae of the species Gracilaria birdiae (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%). The seeds were subjected to determination of moisture degree, germination tests, first germination count, germination speed, seedling fresh and dry mass, whole seedling, shoot and root length, and emergence in a greenhouse. Under the conditions in which this work was developed, the aqueous extract showed potential as a biostimulant, however, it is still necessary to define which concentrations have the best effect. Discordant or uneven results are related to extract or seed factors.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Algas marinhas. Sementes.
