The use of backfill improves heat dissipation around power cables, allowing for the reduction of conductor cross-sections and trench widths, thus contributing to cost savings without compromising electrical safety or system efficiency. To support this analysis, thermal simulations were performed using the Cableizer software, based on real installation parameters. The results showed that the application of backfill enables satisfactory thermal performance with smaller conductors, keeping cable temperatures within operational limits. The cost savings observed in representative segments can be extrapolated to indicate a significant reduction in implementation costs for MV networks in renewable projects. Therefore, this study demonstrates the importance of integrating technical knowledge, computational modeling, and economic analysis to develop more sustainable and financially feasible solutions for the power sector.pt-BRAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/backfillvalas de média tensãoenergia renovávelotimização de custoscableizercabos elétricosusinas fotovoltaicasparques eólicos.Estudo do uso de backfill em valas mt para parques eólicos e usinas fotovoltaicas: análise técnica e comparativo de custosStudy on the use of backfill in medium-voltage trenches for wind farms and photovoltaic plants: technical analysis and cost comparisonbachelorThesisENGENHARIAS
