The way we use the storytelling today enables our children to develop their imagination as well as feel stimulated to the habit of reading. This present work deals with the theme of Storytelling in early childhood education and its relevance to the future reader training and aims to analyze some theoretical proposals that discuss the storytelling, the historical aspects of children's literature, fairy tales and their contribution to the reader in training and the teacher as mediator of reading. We will discuss two proposals based on Bettelheim (2002) and Graves and Graves (1994) showing how it could be reproduced in the classroom. Thus, this article was developed through a qualitative research and having the bibliographical research as data collection instrument enabling a theoretical revision which for it will dialogue with Ariès (1981), Coelho (1991), Sandrone (2011), Bettelheim (1980), Graves and Graves (1994) among others.
