The proposal is based on studies that analyse the areas of History and Music Teaching and presents as a final product a proposal for an elective subject within the new Potiguar High School, adaptation of the national project of the New High School for the reality of schools in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, guided by objectives and skills of the BNCC, in particular presenting a didactic sequence, from the song Alexander The Great from the British band Iron Maiden, released in 1986, observing the synchrony between the rhythm, the narrative, the visual aesthetics found in the dissemination arts (album covers, stage, video clips) and the contributions of this type of material in student learning and engagement of students. Throughout the paper I develop reflections on the collaborations that this musical style provided in the course of my own academic training, my professional experience as a history teacher.
