It is precisely through archaeology and its study of the material remains found, that we are provided with the fragments necessary to build a greater understanding of prehistoric societies. The same can be said of mortuary archaeology, or the archaeology of death, a branch of the field that seeks to perform the same analysis, but with material remains linked to the burial process, which in certain cases contained the presence of artifacts and/or adornments, which form the so-called funerary furniture. Seeking to analyze this material through bibliographic production, the time frame chosen was that of prehistoric sites in the context of northern Rio Grande do Norte, with works published in the last decades of the XIX century and the beginning of the XXII century.
