Other authors such as Pini and Carazzatto (2005) define sports initiation in two different moments, the general one (chronological age from two to twelve years), where the greatest objective will be the preparation for the greatest efforts, in the development of the basic qualities, in the specialized phase (From the age of twelve), the young athlete starts to have the training more directed with the necessary requirements for the sport. The objective of this study is to verify the appropriate chronological age for the practice of karate, preventing the early specialization of young athletes. We seek to spread karate for future research and to select small athletes who will one day become "champions". This work consists of a review of the literature, carried out through the periodical portals of capes, academic and publemed Google, where the following keywords were used: sports initiation, chronological age, specialization in Portuguese and English, with no year restriction Of publication. The articles were selected following the following inclusion criteria: Karate-Do, to have as main subject sports initiation within the context of the article. Duplicate articles and case reports were excluded.
