Trying to cooperate with the urgent visibility of this theme, this study aims to realize the dynamics of slavery and the search for freedom in City Jardim, (currently Jardim do Seridó) in the period from 1872 to 1888. The guiding principle is the analysis of the practices of the liberation of slaves for themselves and for others. Thereby we seek to understand the social dynamics of liberation processes in the late nineteenth century in Jardim do Seridó, giving visibility to the documentation about the captives african-Brazilian of Jardim do Seridó, especially manumission, the Emancipation Fund and the Commission Liberating Jardinense. On this theme and sources we conducted documentary research in LABORDOC the acquis, Higher Education Center Seridó, UFRN, as it was also carried an interview with sir Sebastião Arnóbio de Morais, secretary of Jardim do Seridó Parish, on the Commission Liberating Jardinense, so as it was analyzed the 1872 Census. The historiographical contributions to the research problem analysis were based on the regional level in the dissertations produced on the subject by historians Ariane de Medeiros Pereira (2014), Michele Soares Lopes (2011) and Claudia Cristina Lake Borges (2000). For a discussion of national historiography we rely on the production of Sidney Chalhoub (1990), Wlamyra R. de Albuquerque (2009), Francisco Vidal Luna and Herbert S. Klein (2010).openAccessEscravidãoLiberdadeProcessos de liberdadeEscravidão e Liberdade em Jardim do Seridó (1872-1888)bachelorThesisHistória
