The research highlights the importance of maintaining strict procedures for the collection, storage, and transmission of digital data, with the goal of ensuring its integrity and authenticity from its origin to its presentation in court. The methodological approach adopted combined a review of specialized literature, case studies, and the analysis of judicial decisions regarding the validity and reliability of digital evidence. Through this cross-examination, it was possible to identify deficiencies and areas of concern in the practical application of chain-of-custody protocols, demonstrating how small errors can compromise evidentiary robustness and influence the outcome of judicial proceedings. The results demonstrated that although technological advances offer numerous tools for capturing and processing digital information, the lack of uniform legal regulations and standardized preservation procedures still generates legal uncertainty.
