Comparação entre as fórmulas de Friedewald, Martin e Cordova, e do método direto de determinação do colesterol LDL. 2022. 55 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Biomedicina) - Centro de Biociências, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/51203Cardiovascular diseases are a considered cause of death in Brazil and worldwide, and as LDL-C is one of the most important risk factors when it comes to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, it is essential to investigate the different methods of measuring LDL-C. Therefore, LDL-C concentration data determined by Friedewald, Martin and Cordova formulas, and by direct method of 30 participants of the extension project with outsourced employees of UFRN were used. As well as it was analyzed whether there is a correlation between the measured values and the gender and age variables, and how these variations could influence the diagnosis of isolated hypercholesterolemia. It was found similarity between the direct (110.85 mg/dL) and indirect dosages using the Cordova formula (114.14 mg/dL), while the highest means described for LDL-C were calculated using the Friedewald (124.6 mg /dL) and Martin formulas (126.26 mg/dL), that it was similar to each other. Among the age groups, higher serum concentrations of LDL-c was observed in the 51 and 60 years old group when it was used the indirect methods: 127.47 mg/dL (Martin), 132.41 mg/dL (Friedewald) and 121.87 mg/dL (Cordova) while it was seen a higher mean in the 31 to 40 year age group by the direct method. In the analysis related to gender, higher concentrations of LDL-C were observed in the male group. For the analysis of the different methods related to the risk group categories established by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, it was observed an alteration in the risk classification of participants when it was evaluated by the different methods which corresponds to 40%, 43.2% and 49.8 % of participants for Friedewald, Martin and Cordova related to the direct method, respectively. As for the diagnosis of dyslipidemia, 13.3% of the individuals had LDL-C referring to isolated hypercholesterolemia when measured using the Friedewald and Martin formulas, and 3.33% when LDL-C was determined by Cordova formula while the concentrations obtained using the direct method were all within normal limits. Therewith, it was concluded that the currently recommended LDL-c formula continues to show inconsistencies, reaffirming the need to establish a safe and effective dosage method.LDL-ColesterolMétodos indiretosDosagem diretaHipercolesterolemiaAteroscleroseDoença cardiovascularLDL-CholesterolIndirect methodsDirect dosageHypercholesterolemiaAtherosclerosisCardiovascular diseaseComparação entre as fórmulas de Friedewald, Martin e Cordova, e do método direto de determinação do colesterol LDLComparison between Friedewald, Martin and Cordova formula and the direct method for determining LDL cholesterolbachelorThesis
