Objective: to evaluate the repercussions of usual risk prenatal care in the context of primary health care in preparation for childbirth. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach and semi-structured interview techniques were applied to 25 postpartum women who underwent regular prenatal care and access to personal information contained in the pregnant woman's prenatal card. and in the charts. The analysis of the interviews was based on the content analysis according to Bardin. Results: The results revealed that the puerperal women had unfavorable perceptions in relation to the care they received during prenatal care, pointed out that there was insufficient preparation for childbirth during pregnancy, the unfavorable perceptions are directly linked to the current health care model of care centered on the biological to the detriment of the biopsychosocial and on mechanized behaviors and actions. Final considerations: The prenatal care of primary health care in that municipality has not been fulfilling in the preparation of pregnant women for childbirth.
