Comprometimento tecidual e distribuição de cistos no estriado de camundongos infectados pelo Toxoplasma gondii. 2019. 47 f. Monografia (Graduação em Biomedicina) – Centro de Biociências. The central nervous system consists of the spinal cord and brain. This in turn comprises the region of the telencephalon where the base nuclei are located, which will form the striatumbody region responsible for the regulation of motor function and someaspects of the individual's behavior. In this context, the objective of this work was to quantify the number of tissue cysts and neurons in the striatumbrain body of mice susceptible and resistant to T. gondii infection. The Balb/cand C57BL/6mice infected with ME49 strain cysts were followed for 30 days. After this period, a quantitative analysis of cysts and neurons present in the striatum of the brain of susceptible (C57BL/6) and infection resistant (Balb/c) mice was performed. The results showed that C57BL/6mice showed greater body weight reduction during the experimental protocol and an average of 66 striatal cysts, a value 4.4 times higher than that presented by Balb/cmice. In addition, the C57BL/6strain also showed a higher WFA + neuronal cell reduction than Balb/c. These data point to the differences between parasite colonization of brain tissue between different hosts and reflect the distinct immune activation between the two strains during chronic Toxoplasma gondii infection.Toxoplasma gondiiEstriadoCistos tissularesComprometimento tecidual e distribuição de cistos no estriado de camundongos infectados pelo Toxoplasma gondiibachelorThesisParasitologia
