Dissertação (Mestrado em Educação Física) - Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2018.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/26712The low cardiorespiratory condition of people living with HIV / AIDS, in treatment with HAART, is one of the characteristic side effects of this population, being associated with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases, being more relevant when combined with old age, high BMI and diagnosis of lipodystrophy. The aim of this study was to evaluate and describe the physical fitness of physically active PLHA in the parameters of body composition and cardiorespiratory capacity, through a crosssectional study with descriptive typology and the choice of individuals for convenience (Physical exercises with strength training), (11 men and 4 women), with a mean age of 45.58 years (± 9.44) and with HIV / AIDS, selected at the infectious hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Norte and Specialized HIV Care Services (SAE). The following conditions were adopted: Patients undergoing HAART of both sexes and age above 18 years, who had TCD4 lymphocyte count equal to or greater than 500 copies / mm³, undetectable viral load (≤50 copies / mm³), and physically trained for at least 6 months. The samples were collected in a single moment, and data on body composition were collected: percentage of total fat (25.83 ± 7.21), trunk (29.79 ± 8.67), arm (23.10 (31.38 ± 9.76), gynoid (25.23 ± 8.53), total lean mass in kilograms (45.88 ± 9.76) 8.40), BMI (23.87 ± 2.40), height (164.37 ± 9.02) and weight (64.71 ± 10.14). And cardiorespiratory capacity: VO2 ml / min / kg (30.60 ± 5.0), respectively. The means and standard deviations of residence times at each threshold (threshold 1, threshold 2 and peak effort) were analyzed, as well as the percentage variation of dwell times at each threshold. From the data analyzed, the results demonstrate a predominantly anaerobic characteristic, where a remarkable prolonged stay can be observed during the test until the first threshold is reached, which is repeated until reaching the second threshold and after that moment a considerable permanence at this stage. With this, we conclude that, PLHA are below average in relation to body composition, with obesity of the android type, however, with maintenance of lean mass. They also present reduced cardiorespiratory capacity with associated anaerobiosis. These results are possibly associated with lipodystrophy and oxidative stress due to mitochondrial toxicity, commonly found in PLHA under HAART.Acesso AbertoAptidão cardiorrespiratóriaHIV/AIDSHAARTExercício físicoCapacidade cardiorrespiratória de pessoas vivendo com HIV/AIDSCardiorrespiratory capacity of people living with HIV/AIDSmasterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::EDUCACAO FISICA
