These complications can also emerge upon the announcement of the need for neonatal hospitalization. This study aimed to investigate the psychological symptomatology and emotional dysregulation of mothers whose newborns were hospitalized in a teaching maternity hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. A quantitative research design of descriptive, exploratory, and correlational nature was conducted. The following instruments were used for data collection: 1) Sociodemographic questionnaire and general aspects of pregnancy; 2) Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21); 3) Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS-16); 4) Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). The results indicated a moderate level of stress and mild levels of depression and anxiety. Additionally, correlations were found between difficulties in emotion regulation and psychiatric symptomatology.
