Efeitos potenciais do uso do solo sobre as comunidades de cianobactérias em 100 lagos do Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil. 2015. 21 f. Natural lakes and reservoirs receive loads of alloktone nutrients through anthropic activities such as agriculture and pasture, which accelerates the process of eutrophication. Different land uses can promote different effects on the entire aquatic system. Understanding the relationship between the waterbody and the landscape is essential to the management of water quality. We aimed to answer these following questions 1) Can land use affect the ratios and concentrations of nutrients (N and P) and the water transparency? Is there any difference between the types of land use and the buffers (50 and 500m)? 2) Can land use affect the patterns of cyanobacterial total and relative biovolume? 3) Is there any difference between the types of land use and the buffers? For this study, five types of anthropogenic land use were determined to two scales of distance around the lakes (50 and 500m). Generalized Linear Models (GLZ) and Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) were performed to analyze our data. Our results showed a significant effect of the land use on the nutrients but not on the cyanobacterial biovolume, what suggests an indirect effect of the land use on cyanobacteria via nutrients. Limnologic variables exhibited a greater explanation power on the cyanobacterial biovolume compared to the land use effects, underlining the indirect effect of the land use on cyanobacteria. There was no significant difference between the two zones of distance, suggesting that the effects of land use could be felt in the entire watershed. This study is important to support the knowledge about the relationship between the landscape and the waterbodyopenAccessBiovolumeEutrofizaçãoBacia hidrográficaEfeitos potenciais do uso do solo sobre as comunidades de cianobactérias em 100 lagos do Rio Grande do Norte, BrasilPotential Land Use Effects on Cyanobacterial Communities in 100 lakes in Rio Grande do Norte, BrazilbachelorThesis
