Thus, among the numerous species of plants with medicinal properties, especially antimicrobial activity, the present study proposed to study Spondias mombin L., popularly known as cajá. In addition to the fact that the microorganisms Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, are mentioned in the literature as opportunistic pathogens and of great clinical relevance for the oral environment.The goal of this study was to carry out the phytochemical screening of the extract from the leaves of Spondias mombin L. and to evaluate, in vitro, its antimicrobial action against such bacteria. Phytochemical screening of the extracts was investigated through chemical reactions and through the thin-layer chromatography (CCD) technique. The detected compounds were: phenolic compounds, flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The potential of this extract against such bacteria were tested through the tests of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), Minimum Inhibitory Adhesion Concentration (CIMA) and bactericidal kinetics. It was observed that the extract S. mombin L. showed activity on the tested microorganisms, and a non-sticky effect on all the bacteria tested.
