Um mergulho na memória: projeto de reabilitação do complexo aquático do CAIC Lagoa Nova. Orientador: Verner Max Liger de Mello Monteiro. 2025. 173f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo) - Departamento de Arquitetura, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/65107Natal, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, is a coastal city where swimming skills are essential for public safety. However, there is a significant lack of adequate public facilities for the practice of aquatic sports, which contributes to rising drowning rates among the population and to the discontinuation of sports such as artistic swimming, water polo, and diving. On the other hand, private institutions offer a wide range of swimming facilities, although access remains restricted to a limited segment of society. Within this context lies the Centro de Atenção Integral à Criança e ao Adolescente (CAIC), located in Lagoa Nova — a public space dedicated to sports training, which is currently underutilized and in need of maintenance. In light of this scenario, the present study proposes the rehabilitation of CAIC’s sports complex, a project originally designed by João da Gama Filgueiras Lima — Lelé — through the expansion of its aquatic training facilities. The aim is to promote the appreciation of aquatic sports and reaffirm the site's social function. To this end, specific objectives were established, including the analysis of the historical and social context of CAIC’s facilities in relation to education, leisure, and training, as well as the identification of necessary adaptations for current activities. Furthermore, the study seeks to identify spatial requirements and key concepts that guide the design of aquatic sports facilities, alongside the investigation of prefabricated construction solutions for the development of a new training center. In parallel, the work emphasizes the importance of rehabilitation as a strategy to restore the social role of existing spaces and preserve modern Brazilian architecture. The proposal leads to the development of annex buildings to support the existing infrastructure, aiming to accommodate all aquatic sports modalities, with areas for training, competition, and technical support, benefiting athletes, coaches, and the community.pt-BRAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/CAIC Lagoa NovaEsportes aquáticosArquitetura esportivaProjeto de arquiteturaUm mergulho na memória: projeto de reabilitação do complexo aquático do CAIC Lagoa NovabachelorThesis
