Therefore, the search for greater production efficiency, reduction of operating costs, and the need to attend to increasingly demanding delivery times are priority issues for companies in the sector, especially in the clothing segment. Thus, the use of management tools such as “Single minute exchange of die” (SMED) has been applied in order to minimize product replacement on an industrial production line. This study evaluated the application of the Rapid Tool Change (RTS) methodology to the setup process in a small production unit in the textile industry, with the aim of reducing downtime and optimizing production efficiency. The implementation of TRF involved separating activities between internal and external, as well as standardizing processes and training staff, in order to result in significant improvements in productivity, operational flexibility, and cost reduction.
