Different techniques for the immobilization of lipases have been developed with the aim of increasing the viability of using these biocatalysts. This study aims to address the main strategies for the immobilization of lipases as well as the most common supports and new materials used, the immobilization parameters for different methods, with the goal of listing the main applications of immobilized lipases through a traditional review. Furthermore, the Scopus platform was used in conjunction with the VOSviewer software to establish a bibliometric review of the key terms and authors found in the search for documents on the use of immobilized lipases for the production of biodiesel and polymers, which are highlighted as the main applications. The analysis of the obtained documents was conducted temporally, dividing both applications into three periods: from 1998 to 2006, 2007 to 2015, and from 2016 to 2024 for the biodiesel production topic, and from 1982 to 2004, 2005 to 2014, and from 2015 to 2024 for the polymer production topic. The results were organized in the form of interconnection maps between the terms and authors for each selected period. The obtained maps are consistent with the traditional review initially conducted on the topic of bibliographic review and help to simply visualize the main lipases, processes, and materials related to the selected applications. Additionally, the temporal characterization allows for a good understanding of changes in methodologies and materials in the selected applications.
