UFRN, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/53582In the world, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions have been increasing, mainly because of the growing world energetic demand caused by the accelerated population growth. In addition, the development of new technologies, industrialization and the consequent need to use more means of transport have significantly contributed to more CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Due to the emergence of several negative effects and global climate changes, it was seen how much it is necessary to find solutions to contain the impacts caused by the emission of greenhouse gases. In this context, the objective of this work is centered on carrying out a study on the injection of CO2 in oil reservoirs as a way to increase oil recovery and, at the same time, reduce the effects caused by the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere. For this, a bibliographical research of the last five years was carried out, based on the literature review on the subject. The results indicate that, currently, there are already several solutions and technologies developed specifically for the use of CO2 as an oil recovery agent.
