DOI 10.9771/cmbio.v24i1.61999https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/68443Objective: to identify the perceptions and practices of preceptors regarding the use of active teaching-learning methodologies in the context of health preceptorship at a public medical school in northeastern Brazil. Methodology: this is an exploratory-descriptive study. Results: 24 preceptors were interviewed. Regarding the preceptor’s performance and their conceptions and practices in the articulation with the service, the following stand out: the articulation between care activities and preceptorship activities; the identification of learning opportunities for the student in the field of preceptorship; the articulation between theory and practice, emphasising the dynamics, diversity and uniqueness of situations in the field of preceptorship; encouraging the student to exercise problematisation, identifying a problem and seeking practical and viable solutions; and the belief that the use of active methodologies can help the student in decision-making and in taking a leading role in practice scenarios.
