There are different design methods available in the technical literature for these walls. However, there is a lack of information regarding comparative evaluations of different available methods. Among the most widely spread methods, stands out: the factored moment method (FMM), the factored strength method (FSM), the net passive pressure method (NPPM) and the method proposed by Das (2014). Therefore, the present paper provides a comparative analysis of the analytic design methods for sheet pile walls based on a parametric study of the soil unit weight, the soil internal friction angle and the safety factors. It was considered the strength characteristics of granular soils commonly found in the city of Natal-RN. Based on the findings, it was concluded that the MRP method is the most conservative method concerning the embedment length. The modification of soil unit weight value barely changed the maximum moment intensity on the structure. On the other hand, variations on the soil internal friction angle resulted in significant changes on the theoretical embedment length and the maximum moment.openAccessEstrutura de contenção.
