It is a transversal and descriptive study about prevalence and factors of oral cavity injuries associated to a group of smokers. An analysis was performed, described under absolute and relative frequency, besides a bivariate analysis to changes found and independent variables measured by Pearson's chi-square test (x2), Data were collected from clinical examination performed by researcher previously calibrated. Information was gathered by a structured survey containing sociodemographic data, clinical information about oral health, pathological history, smoking history, Fagerström test, Depression test and CAGE test. 57 smokers participated as volunteers. From them, 50,1% (29) were male, 56,1% (32) up to 57-years-old and low schooling, being 63,1% (36) at elementary school level; from participants, 42,1% (24) were elevated degree to nicotine addiction; Concerning to oral cavity status, 28,1% (16) presented gingivitis, being 42,1% (24) with coated tongue aspect and 45,6% (26) had keratinized mucosa. From clinical findings, those who presented tongue alterations 72,0% (18) were higher or equal 58-years old, 100,0% (9) low schooling and 69,5% (19) were male.
