According to WHO, sexual function (SF) is one of the bases of quality of life (3). In the decades from the 60s to the 2000s, studies listed that the female sexual response cycle (SR) was presented in phases and concluded that women's sexual pleasure is the result of the coordination and integration of several distinct and independent components provided by a sequence of events (5,6,7). Female sexual dysfunctions (SD) imply alterations in one or more phases of this SR cycle (9,10). Women, for hormonal reasons, live different cycles throughout their lives. In this context, it is important to investigate the impacts of the presence of SD on functionality in these different cycles in women with or without children. The WHO conceptualizes human functioning as an umbrella term for body functions and structures and participatory activities that a person may exhibit. Therefore, PS encompasses several biopsychosocial aspects of the individual, but in the vast majority of studies, only one is considered, the functionality of the PFMs. Thus, we present the objective of analyzing the relationship between functionality and SF among adult Brazilian women with and without children. METHODOLOGY: Analytical cross-sectional study, carried out on an online platform, between 2021 and 2022 with 249 women aged 18 to 50 years with and without children. For descriptive analysis we used an evaluation form; FS questionnaire (IFSF) and functionality questionnaire (WHODAS 2.0). For data storage and processing, SPSS 20.0 was used. For the inferential statistical analysis, Pearson's Correlation Test and Student's T Test for independent samples with Welch correction were used. The significance level p<0.05 was adopted; the 95% confidence interval. This study was submitted and approved by the ethics committee under opinion 4,847,000 - CAAE: 47466121.8.0000.5568. RESULTS: The study was carried out with 249 women with a mean age of 28.7 years, most of whom had completed higher education, most of whom were health professionals, and most of whom had partnerships. 152 without children and 97 with children were divided into 2 groups. In the group of women without children, it was observed that those with SD had worse functionality (or greater disability) when compared to those without SD for the total score (p[95%CI]: 0.001 [7.51 to 17.62] ) and for all WHODAS domains. Similar results were obtained when analyzing the group of women with children (Table 4). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that there is a relationship between functionality and SF in adult women with and without children. Women with SD have worse functionality when compared to those without SD, regardless of the presence of children. In addition, worse results in sexual function are significantly related to worse results in functionality, with the greatest impact being on women with children.CC0 1.0 Universalhttp://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/FuncionalidadeFunção sexual femininaDisfunção sexualFunctionalityFemale sexual functionSexual dysfunction.Relação entre funcionalidade e função sexual em mulheres adultas com e sem filhos: um estudo transversalRelationship between functionality and sexual function in adult women with and without children: a cross-cross studybachelorThesis
