There is a need for an inclusive education that ensures not only the enrollment in school but the validation of learning, through the use of active methodologies, which is comprised of teaching models that contribute to the development of autonomy and the participation of students, with or without disabilities, as a whole, through the development of autonomy and engagement in the teaching process. These subjects are integrated to different learning possibilities, with the teacher as a facilitator of learning. Thus, the scientific methodology of the research, as to the objectives, is exploratory, for it seeks to establish anticipated information on the subject investigated, and it has a qualitative scope. The study, therefore, was divided into the following steps: survey and analysis of the literature; online questionnaire and a plan for intervention. The results showed the maximization of the teaching of children with intellectual disabilities, making them protagonists of their own learning. It also highlighted the integration between theory and practice, and the importance of building an Individualized Education Program (IEP), regarding the individualities of each child.
