The global health crisis has brought about significant changes in consumer behavior and business operations, profoundly affecting the retail industry. The study utilizes key economic indicators such as GDP (Gross Domestic Product), IBC-Br (Brazilian Central Bank Economic Activity Index), IPCA (National Consumer Price Index), Selic (Basic Interest Rate), as well as labor market indicators. Data sources include reputable institutions such as IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), Ipea (Institute of Applied Economic Research), BACEN (Central Bank of Brazil), Nielsen, and SBVC (Brazilian Retail and Consumption Society). The objective is to analyze the trajectory of the Brazilian economy, contextualize the pandemic periods, and understand the retail sector's performance based on sales volume, revenue, growth, activity segmentation, and consumer characteristics. Companies have had to swiftly adapt by implementing safety measures and transitioning to e-commerce. In the long term, the pandemic has accelerated the growth of e-commerce and brought about changes in consumer preferences.
