Trabalho de conclusão de curso (Especialização em História Cultura Africano e Afro brasileiro), Departamento de História do Ceres, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Caicó, 2016.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/44346The paper Capoeira: homage, resistance and conquest of freedom, relates activities developed in classroom at Presidente Castelo Branco Municipal School, in Currais Novos-RN, aiming to deconstruct attitudes and concepts of racist nature present in the school conviviality by the study about capoeira, which most of times is seen just as a folk expression and not as an instrument of struggle and freedom, reminiscent of African and Afro-Brazilian culture, still present in our daily lives. For theoretical basis of the research it was searched the support of the authors Adorno, Brazil, Romão, Brandão, Munanga, Rodrigues, Rangel, among others. It was analyzed the importance of capoeira not only as representative of the resistance to slavery, but in order that our African roots not be forgotten. As a result, the black students in the classroom who sought to deny their ancestry by describing themselves as "brunette" passed to see themselves as part of the black identity, and so affirming themselves to be black skinned related to their ethnicity and raising their self-esteem.openAccessCapoeiraResistênciaLiberdadepostGraduateThesisEducação
