Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/59817A tourist destination in the Seridó region, the city of Caicó is traditionally known for its seasonal festivals and events, such as Carnival and the Sant’Ana Festival, which are major drivers of the local economy. This represents an opportunity to exploit the tourist potential of the central area. Caicó has few accommodation beds, which are not enough for the public expected during the various festivities. The aim of this project is to develop an architectural preliminary design for a guesthouse located in the center of Caicó-RN, creating spaces that connect the public and private through the adoption of active façades. The specific objectives are: to understand the architectural guidelines characteristic of lodging facilities; to understand how active façades impact the relationship between public and private space; to apply the principle of active façades to a commercial building, respecting the relationship with its surroundings. To this end, the methodology used was the systematization of data through fiches and studies of references to develop the theoretical basis, and for the design exercise the proposition of Neves (1989). The result is a housing facility that meets the housing shortage and is contextualized to the place where it is located, with principles of active façades and thermal comfort.
