We conducted literature search in the Scielo databases; Lilacs and Pubmed; the most recent publications (2013-2016). The muscle stretching are exercises aimed at increasing muscle flexibility, which promotes the stretching of the muscle fibers, causing them to increase their length, the more elongated a muscle, the greater the joint motion commanded by this muscle and therefore greater flexibility. At the end of the study it can be concluded that stretching performed intensely before resistance training can have a negative influence on the result of maximum force practitioner. However, there needs to be a strategy in achieving the muscle stretching for the practitioners of the sport, once and flexibility is an important physical capacity for general physical fitness of individuals.openAccessAn error occurred getting the license - uri.Alongamento.
