These injuries can result in language and/or speech disorders, such as aphasia, apraxia, and dysarthria, which may significantly impact the quality of life of affected adults and elderly individuals. The general purpose of this study is to analyze the scientific literature regarding language changes in patients with acquired brain injuries (ABIs) screened in a hospital setting. The research was conducted through an integrative literature review. Searches were carried out in databases such as the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), the Virtual Health Library (VHL), and the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), covering the period from 2014 to 2024. The results indicate that acquired brain injuries impact language, impair communication, and affect the quality of life. Screening in hospital settings proves essential for identifying these alterations, enabling collaborative interventions.
