One variable that can compromise this accuracy is the presence of false memories, understood as altered or completely invented recollections, thus influencing the outcome of judicial proceedings. This issue is of particular importance to law practitioners, as false memories can affect the effectiveness of evidence. The research focuses on analyzing this interaction, asking: how can the False Memory Filter interfere with the accuracy of recognizing individuals in the Brazilian penal process? This study is of crucial social and legal importance, as understanding this problem can promote greater rigor and justice in conducting criminal proceedings. The aim is to explore this issue through a legal analysis, examining current legislation, case studies, and relevant literature. The recognition of individuals is a key component of the Brazilian legal system, but the interference of false memories is a phenomenon that requires ongoing investigation. For this, the methodological approach is applied research of a theoretical type, using the hypothetical-deductive method and qualitative approach. As a conclusion, it's important to recognize that the False Memory Filter will always be present, due to its multicausality.
