2023. 69 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Serviço Social) - Departamento de Serviço Social, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/55865The study focuses on single-parent families led by women who take on full responsibility for raising their children. This is a widespread reality in the lives of Brazilian women, and the challenges faced by these women are examined in light of the deep historical influences of patriarchy, which continue to perpetuate gender inequalities in the country. Additionally, the racial issue is also considered, especially concerning the increasing poverty among Black women facing single motherhood, reflecting the deeply rooted structural racism in Brazilian society. The methodology includes literature review and analysis of quantitative data, aiming to highlight the urgency of rethinking social policies, with an emphasis on promoting the autonomy and empowerment of single mothers and overcoming gender stereotypes. The central objective of the study is to analyze the available social protection for these women, especially in a context of poverty exacerbated by neoliberal policies. This involves understanding the historical influences of patriarchy, analyzing the intersections between gender, class, and race, and evaluating existing social policies and their adequacy to the needs of these families.
