Prevalência da síndrome da dor patelofemoral e sua associação com nível de atividade física, maturação sexual e faixa etária - um estudo transversal. 2022. 32f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Fisioterapia) - Departamento de Fisioterapia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/50690Introduction: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders that affect the knee. It is characterized by the presence of poorly defined pain in the anterior region of the knee or diffuse pain in the retropatellar region. This pathology has a diverse target audience, with a higher incidence among females. Objective: To assess the prevalence and association between chronological age, sexual maturation and physical activity level and PFPS in schoolchildren between 10 and 18 years old. Methodology: This is an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative study. With an evaluation of 200 students based on the variables of physical activity level (IPAQ short version) and sexual maturation (Tanner's self-assessment). At the level of association analysis, adjusted Prevalence Ratios (PR) and confidence intervals (95% CI) of the outcome in relation to the independent variables were calculated. A 5% significance level was considered. Prevalences were calculated from the complex sampling design with the inclusion of weights and cluster effects. Results: The survey pointed to a prevalence of 30% in relation to PFPS. The level of active physical activity had a statistically significant association with PFPS (p= 0.002, CI= 1.4 - 5.2), together with the level of pubertal sexual maturation (p= 0.001, CI= 12 - 18) and post -pubescent (p=0.001, CI= 3.6 - 33) and age in the age groups of 13-15 years and 16-18 years (p= 0.04, CI= 0.3 - 0.9) and ( p= 0.03, CI= 0.3 - 0.9), respectively. Conclusion: PFPS showed a high prevalence in the evaluated sample, in addition to being directly associated with the stage of pubertal and post-pubertal sexual maturation and the level of active physical activity.
