Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Educação Física) - Departamento de Educação Física, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2016.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/47946Objective: To evaluate the benefits of walking in water quality of life (QoL) of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), comparing the results between the active and sedentary population. Methods: A total of 14 men and women (65.4 ± 8.3 years, 65.6 ± 7.4 kg, 1.60 ± 0.05 m, 25.5 ± 2.5 kg / m²) participated in this study. (2 males and 4 females) and eight sedentary (4 males and 4 females). In the present study, there was a significant difference between the two groups. The quality of life was assessed by the PDQL-BR questionnaire, the global cognitive status assessed by the Mini-Mental and all signed the Informed Consent Term. The domains of quality of life were compared by t test for independent samples and considered P <0.05. Results: QOL was better in subjects with water walking PP in all components of the quality of life evaluated compared to sedentary subjects. QOL related to parkinsonian symptoms (80.7 ± 10.4 vs. 62.9 ± 8.7), systemic symptoms (79.0 ± 13.1 vs. 63.2 ± 10.1), emotional function (83, 7 ± 11.6 vs. 73.3) and social function (80.6 ± 63.8) presented the most significant score (P <0.05) for the active population compared to the sedentary ones, respectively. Conclusion: The study showed that the walking activity in water can bring significant benefits in the QOL of patients with Parkinson's disease, attenuating the effects of the disease.openAccessDoença de Parkinson, Qualidade de vida, Caminhada na águaParkinson's Disease.
