Due to the great concern with the environment these days, the debate on the reuse of materials is increasing, aiming to minimize economic and environmental impacts. Based on this and the large volume of waste generated by the mining industry, the main objective of this work is to characterize the waste from the granite mining process of a mining activity located in the city of Parelhas-RN and list possible uses for the residue, replacing natural aggregate, in geotechnical works. The following characterizations were carried out with the samples: physical characterization, mechanical characterization, mineralogical characterization and morphostructural characterization. The physical characterization consisted of carrying out the tests to determine the apparent specific mass, apparent absorption and apparent porosity in accordance with the ABNT NBR 15845-2:2015 standard, while the mechanical characterization was performed to determine the compressive strength of the samples, according to ABNT NBR 15845-5:2015. The mineralogical characterization was performed using the petrographic analysis method, with the main objective of determining the degree of health of the studied samples. The morphostructural determination was performed with the aid of a scanning electron microscope (SEM). In general, as administrators collected, they obtained high mechanical strength, physical indices within acceptable limits for ornamental granites and slightly altered feldspar dissipators.
