Thus, the objective of this study was to relate the Body Mass Index (BMI), consumption of foods rich in vitamin B6 and magnesium with sleep quality in adults. This is a quantitative cross-sectional study, with Brazilian adults using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (IQSP) and the Food Reminder (R24h). In this study, 137 individuals were evaluated, who presented a 70.8% prevalence of poor sleep quality, regardless of BMI classification. Furthermore, the consumption of vitamin B6 and magnesium was probably inadequate (95.6% and 93.4%, respectively) for most Brazilian adults. Poor sleep quality was associated with probably inadequate dietary intake of vitamin B6, and this may have a direct influence on the individual's health. Therefore, the results obtained in this research can serve to contribute to the awareness of the population about the importance of adopting an adequate diet and the consequent benefits to the quality of sleep. In addition, it can be a source of information for professional nutritionists, who can integrate this new knowledge into their professional practice, as well as base guidelines on food consumption and sleep in the development of Public Health Policies.Qualidade do sono.
