This is an ecological, retrospective, descriptive study, carried out based on the analysis of secondary data, previously made available from the last five years, collected from the database of the Mortality Information System (SIM/SUS), from DATASUS, whose dependent variables were the number of deaths caused by ARI, IRC and IRNE per year of occurrence, and the independent variables included: number of deaths by Brazilian macro-region, sex, race, age group, education, and marital status. There were 83,848 deaths from kidney failure in Brazil, with almost 50% of cases resulting from CKD, with a relatively constant increase in mortality during the period analyzed, being more pronounced between 2020 and 2021, over 60 years of age, with prevalence in the Southeast region, in males, in white and brown populations, in individuals with less than 8 years of schooling, and with marital status declared as married. It is concluded, through the findings of this study, that deaths from kidney failure continue to increase in Brazil, requiring more effective strategies capable of mitigating their occurrence.Attribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Insuficiência RenalMortalidadeCaracterísticas da PopulaçãoCaracterização da mortalidade por insuficiência renal no BrasilCharacterization of mortality due to renal failure in BrazilbachelorThesis
