Objective: To analyze the perceptions of undergraduate nursing students about the contributions of university extension programmes to their academic education. Methods: This is a descriptive exploratory study with a qualitative approach, involving nursing undergraduates attending a public university. Interviews and a semi-structured questionnaire were used for data collection. Results: Most participants reported that that extension projects have strong bearings on the curriculum, strengthening knowledge gained from the disciplines.
