Objective: To characterize the profile of ADE reported in Brazilian children and adolescents, as well as discuss the potential associated factors. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, which used preliminary data from Brazil from 2019 regarding exogenous intoxication registered in the Sistema Nacional de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN). The variables included in the study were: age, sex, circumstance of the adverse event, type of exposure, suspected drug organized by Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) class, occurrence of hospitalization and type of outcome. All study variables were descriptively analyzed by absolute and relative frequency. Results: Adverse reactions and suicide attempt were the main causes of ADE, representing 35.3% and 25.2% of notifications, respectively. Drugs that act on the nervous system had more than half of the notifications (50.36%), followed by anti-infectives for systemic use with 14.87% and drugs that act on the musculoskeletal system (10.24%). Children aged 0 to 2 years have ADE associated with adverse reactions compared to older children and adolescents (54.9% vs 45.2% vs 45.5% vs 17.4%; p<0.001) and adolescents from 13 years of age have adverse events more related to suicide (55.1% vs 1.7% vs 1.0% vs 7.4%; p<0.001). Conclusion: Adverse reactions and suicide attempts were the most reported ADEs in 2019, with an association between these events and age group (0 to 2 years and 13 to 18 years, respectively).Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Eventos adversos a medicamentosFarmacoepidemiologiaCriançasAdolescentesNotificação de eventos adversos a medicamentos em crianças e adolescentes brasileiros e a influência da faixa etáriabachelorThesis
