Nineteen scientific articles published between 2020 and 2022 in journals with Qualis A1 and A2 ratings in the fields of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health were analyzed. The results highlight that the health crisis exacerbated the historical precarity of this sector, characterized by informality and lack of social protection. The analysis also revealed the persistence of insufficient public policies, coupled with the colonial legacy and structural racism, which normalize the exploitation of these workers. On the other hand, organized forms of resistance by workers were identified, through the actions of social movements and unions.
