Its causative agent is a gram-negative bacterium Treponema pallidum from the spirochete group, and may present with periods of latency and outbreaks of exacerbation. Its transmission can be sexual or vertical, and can respectively cause acquired or congenital disease. Syphilis is an old public health problem worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), syphilis is one of the STIs that most affect individuals, it is estimated that there are around 12 million new cases per year. In Brazil, the Epidemiological Bulletin of the disease showed that, in 2020, 115,371 cases of acquired syphilis were registered, 61,441 cases of syphilis in pregnant women and 22,065 of acquired syphilis with 186 deaths. In Currais Novos-RN, there was an increase in cases of infection in patients using the municipal laboratory, therefore, it is important to promote health education for the population. The objective of this work is to build an educational booklet with the aim of promoting health for the population, especially women. The type of research carried out was a literature review for the construction of an educational booklet on syphilis.
